Until we reach the “Holy Grail” of growing hair in bald scalp without surgery (hair multiplication). The natural bridge between traditional FUT and FUE hair transplantation is Bio-Enhanced transplantation or “using your own regenerative cells to enhance the result of all phases of the procedure”.
Bio-Enhanced FUT and FUE incorporate the use of biologics to heal faster, yield hair sooner, denser and also promote the growth of the non-transplanted hair.
Recent published studies in the Journal of Dermatologic Surgery, Oct 2013, verify that the use of high levels of growth factors from PRP with hair cells “yield hair sooner” and “denser” when compared to controls when no growth factors are used.

Phase 1: Your own regenerative cells are used to promote rapid healing producing an almost undetectable “donor incision”.
Phase 2: During the surgical procedure all follicular units are then bathed in your regenerative cell culture medium to nourish the follicles and promote a higher yield of transplanted hairs.
Phase 3: Your bio-enriched cells are injected into the transplanted area to promote faster healing, to improve the quality and aesthetic density of your existing non-transplanted hair.

While there are advantages and disadvantages with both FUT and FUE procedures, it is critical that “the procedure fits the patients goals” and expectations and not what the surgeon or the clinic is marketing. We like to say, “if you only have a hammer everything looks like a nail”.
The advantage of FUT is that:
- More hair can be moved in one session so patients who want more density over a larger area of hair loss would benefit with this procedure.
- More hair is taken from the genetically “safe zone”.
- There is less chance of transection of hairs in harvesting.
- FUT is less expensive.
On the other hand, FUT requires a strip of donor tissue. One of the fears patients have is donor site scaring, but bio-enhanced hair transplantation by someone “skilled in surgical technique and in the art of biologics” can provide an almost undetectable scar.
The human body heals with a scar regardless if the donor tissue is taken by FUE or FUT. Scientific evidence demonstrates that the sooner a wound heals the less scaring you will have.
